About Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa was Sri Lanka's first beach tourism destination, drawing hippie travellers in the 1970s. Today it's the south coast's liveliest town with surf schools, dive shops, coral viewing, and the most active nightlife south of Colombo. The Hikkaduwa National Park protects a coral reef accessible directly from the beach. The town stretches along the coast road with guesthouses, restaurants, and shops. Property is affordable by coastal standards and tourism recovery is strong.
