Rio Vermelho is Salvador's trendiest and most bohemian neighbourhood: a seafront district of bars, live music, acarajé stands and arts around the Largo de Santana and Largo da Mariquita, with the Casa de Iemanjá temple, focus of the February 2 Iemanjá festival, and the late-night Mercado do Peixe. It draws young professionals, artists, digital nomads and foreigners in equal measure. For investors, Rio Vermelho is the city's best Airbnb micro-market: creative, nomad and tourist demand underpins strong short-let performance, while long-let gross yields run ~6–6.6% (higher purchase prices compress the long-let figure). Brazil's open urban-ownership regime keeps acquisition simple for foreigners (a registered Matrícula deed), and the Northeast R$700k VIPER threshold applies; transactions settle in Brazilian reais, so currency is the principal exposure.
